Research: digital & creative tools and tangible interactions

My research focuses on the design of interactions of humans with machines, and especially on providing powerful creative capacities to all.

About

Digital services & user experiences require their interactions to be designed. That's what I do research about.

Digital interactions lab

Discover interaction design (IxD) and research & development in the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).

It's fun, and it brings in a lot of insights about what the future holds and how we can improve our relations to machines and to one another: I enjoy turning complicated things into accessible, desirable things, for the majority and for the greater good.

Digital & creative tools

One of my passions has to do with making tools, and giving the chance to non-specialists to realize things they thought were impossible to make by themselves.

Since 2006 – even before I co-founded User Studio – I've been developing creative tools. Tools for artists and enthusiasts, tools to create & play music, create images, interpret movement. Tools for small kids, tools for big kids.

Tangible interactions

It's very often that there is no better way to design a creative tool than to use tangible interaction principles.

As an example, we've created a now famous controller known as the Tapioca Toys – it's actually more of a category of controllers that we invented from scratch, the DIRTI (Dirty Tangible Interfaces), where the interaction is messy and dirty but also infinitely nuanced and expressive… like the real world.
